When raw materials, such as paper, increase, saving is an important topic. For example, packaging machines that make custom boxes are on the rise. Oversized packaging cost more unnecessary paper. But there is more possible to make savings. Printing directly on boxes is cheaper than labeling. Moreover, you are then no longer dependent on increasing delivery times of labels. Sustainability is also playing an increasingly important role. Printers that print directly on boxes and thus save a large amount of labels is a nice addition.

The coding techniques to print directly on boxes:

Small character inkjet
These compact systems encode contactless and print at the highest speeds. Integration into your production line is easy. These systems require relatively little maintenance, dry very quickly and adhere to almost all surfaces. The machines are often used for applying THT data and traceability codes.

Large character inkjet
Due to the good adhesion, these systems are extremely suitable for printing on almost all surfaces such as foam, steel, concrete and wood. The printers are ideal when the print needs to be visible from a distance. The height of the area to be printed is no less than 127 millimeters per print head. By stacking printheads, even larger surfaces are possible.

High resolution inkjet
These systems print at a higher resolution so that more information remains legible on the same surface. These machines can print up to 144 millimeters high or with two colors. This is by far the most commonly used machine for printing directly on boxes.

Laser coding
Laser systems print at the highest speed with the most precision. Laser codes are indelible; this is because the surface of the product or packaging is processed and no ink is added. The background therefore often determines the legibility of the coding. These systems require no consumables.
